Slack Personal Integration: Your Conversations on Every Call

Connect your own Slack account to Backdrop. Read-only access to the channels, threads, and files you can see, searched on your behalf during calls.

With your own Slack account connected, the answers your team already gave in Slack, like the deal-room thread or the engineer's reply to a security question, are searchable from Backdrop.

What Backdrop can read

Backdrop can read the channels, threads, and files your Slack account can see. Access is read-only: Backdrop never creates, edits, or deletes anything in Slack, and only you can use the connection.

Connecting Slack for your whole team?

Note:

An admin can connect your Slack workspace so selected channels become a knowledge source for everyone. See the enterprise Slack integration.

Before you start

  • The Slack card has two rows. Personal connects your own account, and is what this page covers. Everyone is the workspace-wide connection, which only admins can set up.

Connect Slack

  1. In the Backdrop app, open Knowledge from the sidebar.
  2. Find Slack and click Connect on its card.
  3. In the Personal row, click Connect. Your browser opens the Slack sign-in page.
  4. Sign in to Slack and approve access.

When the Slack card turns green and reads For you, you're connected.

Disconnect Slack

  1. Open Knowledge and click Manage on the Slack card.
  2. In the Personal row, click Disconnect, then confirm.

Backdrop stops reading Slack on your behalf. If something isn't working, see troubleshooting.
